In the lower level of the Basilica we find the Immaculate Conception Chapel. It is dedicated to Mary, daughter of Saint Anne. Its blue atmosphere lends to a feeling of serenity and calm. The surbased vault rests on massive columns. It is magnificently decorated with beautiful paintings found throughout the chapel, along with 178 mosaics illustrating the flora and fauna of the province of Quebec. The organ, situated behind the central altar, was built in 1949 by Casavant & Frères of Saint-Hyacinthe.
