Ten chapels form a marvellous crown surrounding the Basilica's sanctuary. We can admire them as we walk around the ambulatory.
These chapels are dedicated, from left to right, to the following saints:
St. Alphonsus Liguori
He is the founder of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, the Redemptorists, who have been the guardians of the Shrine since 1878.
Our Lady of Perpetual Help
This devotion was confided to the Redemptorists in 1866 by Pope Pius IX.
St. Patrick
He is the patron saint of Ireland and of its numerous descendants who now live in our own country.
St. Joseph
He became Saint Anne's son-in-law in marrying her daughter Mary.
St. Benedict
He is the founder of the Benedictines and Father of Religious Life.
St. John Baptiste de la Salle
He is the founder of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools and a true model for teachers.
St. Joachim
He is the venerable husband of Saint Anne.
St. John the Baptist
He is the patron saint of French Canadians.
Blessed Sacrament
This chapel is reserved for Saint Anne's Feast Day and other large celebrations.
