INAUGURATION OF THE MURAL
June 17, 2008
On June 17, 2008, Fr. Guy Pilote, rector of the Shrine of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, expressed his great joy as many were gathered for the inauguration of the mural:
"We are honoured to inaugurate the first mural on the "Beaupré Coast" and, by doing so, acknowledge the last 350 years of history here at Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré. We invite everyone to come and visit us, and to discover this magnificent work of art that adorns one of the exterior walls of the Museum of Saint Anne."
Created by Murale Création, this mural is 180 square meters in size and faces the Saint Anne Boulevard. The mural is composed of five paintings, four of which depict the seasons. They are painted in the "trompe-l'oeil" style, and remind us of old coloured post-cards of the time.
In addition to the contribution provided by the Shrine of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré itself, the production of this mural was made possible due to the generous contribution of over 40 partners, such as the Caisse populaire Desjardins Mont-Sainte-Anne, the Commission de la capitale nationale du Quebec, and the City of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré.
