Prayer of the YearGood Saint Anne, mother of Mary and grandmother of Jesus, we pray and trust in you.
We thirst for happiness, love and sharing, and so does the world at large. Although there are many streams from which we may quench our thirst, through you we renew our faith in God who is always true to his Word.
Like the Good Samaritan we ask that you intercede on our behalf by asking the Father to "provide us with living waters".
May our families, young people and the sick be refreshed and our thirst for the absolute satisfied, so that we may in turn be living waters for all whom we will encounter.
Good Saint Anne, pray for us. |
He Will Give You Living WatersIn these days of great misery and of accumulated and increasing misfortunes to the nation of Haiti, we wish to express once more to our Haitian brothers and sisters that we stand by you in fraternal feelings and solidarity. Right now too many of you are dying of thirst and are in vital need of water. Perhaps you are wishing you could draw from a well like Jacob's. Jesus once promised a Samaritan woman living waters to quench all thirsts. It exists as the waters of our baptism which made us into God's children, and as the Good News. It is possible to affirm with conviction that God is our Father. And that his son Jesus, our brother, knew true suffering when he died nailed to a cross. Afterwards he resurrected into a stronger, more loving, and luminous immortal being. The path Jesus took is the only one that can bring a real sense of hope into our challenging lives, especially when all seems lost. During 2010 the Sanctuary of Saint Anne invites you to 'draw from the well of Jacob' to meet Jesus who provides living waters: "The water I give is like a flowing fountain of eternal life." (John 4: 14)
