Prayer in Sickness
O Good Saint Anne, you wanted to be
known as the hope for the sick, the mother
of the infirm, and the help of the afflicted.
You possess the marvellous secret to nourish
our confidence and our desire to live, even
though sickness may darken our horizon.
Remind us of God’s faithfulness. With his
tenderness for the little ones, the poor, and
the sick, he remains the Father who welcomes
us into his arms, the Good Shepherd who
carries the wounded sheep on his shoulders,
the compassionate God who comforts the infirm.
In the midst of our suffering, enable us to hear
and accept the hope-filled invitation from your
Grandson Jesus: “Come to me, all you who
labour and are overburdened, and I will give
you rest” (Mt 11:28).
Good Saint Anne, Patroness of the sick,
lead us to your grandson, Jesus, who heals both
bodies and hearts, and who can make our
suffering fruitful. AMEN.
